I love autumn! Autumn is my favorite season; the layers, the colors, the weather....ahhh all year round I sit around waiting for this magic chill that only comes around in the fall. Anyway, besides the wonderful weather, fall is also the time for Fashion Week. (British magazines-designers use A/W instead of F/W-and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT! ) New looks, new accessories, new handbags, new shoes, new hairstyle ideas, just this feeling of being able to absolutely and completely reinvent yourself or add some new great pieces.
While I anticipate the new looks sent down the runway, I also receive a lot of joy scoping out the attendees and the off duty models hopping from show to show, getting a glimpse of how they like to style the runway looks on their own and how they view each designer in their own stylistic representation.
I have always associated fall with boots. Maybe I'm not the only one, since autumn is the time for rainy, chilly weather and boots will keep your piggies warm. Now that I've gotten older, my love and taste for boots has matured into a more adult love....that love being booties.

YSL Cage Booties
About three years ago was the first time that I saw a pair of Sergio Rossi for Narciso Rodriguez (Spring Summer 2009) black, oh-so-craveable booties and have been obsessed ever since.
Of course I went out and purchased the closest thing that caught my eye.
While they're not designer, they fit great and have served me well over the years. The thing that still eats away at me is that when I've searched everywhere for something that I'm truly craving and come up short, I'll settle for the next best thing. (Notice how my dream bootie has a flat sole and the one I have has a small platform) And at that time these boots were pretty much it.
But every time fall comes around, that itch return and I'm on the look out for the perfect pair.
Why did I not buy these?!?!?!?! Because they were brown.
Since boots are probably my favorite footwear EVER, I tried on these Michael Kors Booties last Sunday while running errands/shopping/hanging out with one of my favorite people.
They were THE MOST comfortable pair of heels I’ve EVER tried on. The two pairs I tried on, one had gold and the other had silver studs on the detachable harness. The only thing that was stopping me from getting these is that I don’t quite like the toe. A bit more rounded and I would of so got these. He really knows how to dress women. He understand what women like and how to make his products so that they fit perfectly and look great.
While summer is more of a 60s hippie-flower child type of state for my hair, since I sort of don't care while the heat takes it's toll, there's really no use in trying to style it, when Fashion Week is around the corner I get the biggest urge to chop off all my hair and change up my style. One style is CONSTANTLY on my mind every time fall approaching and has become embedded in my system over the years:
While I basically adore her existence, that hair is legendary and in a league all of it's own.
The shortest I've ever had my hair was about like Freja's in this photo
Longer pieces in the front, because not everyone is Posh and this style, if not cut and styled correctly can look horrible, especially on a round face.
Of course having JUST grown out my hair to where everyone's been commenting, "Oh your hair's gotten long!" (I've never had that feeling at all, it always feels too short) it might feel a bit of a shame of going so short. But truthfully I'm just a bit afraid that when the long hair is gone, you can't really hide behind anything, and you have to face the world, literally ;)
So below are similar, but medium length options that I've fallen in love with.
Is she not the most perfect human ever?!?!^^^^^^^
LOVE the shaggyness, EXACTLY how the back of my head looked three years ago.
I also sometimes wonder how feminine I'd feel with a short cut, it's silly to even consider that because I SURE AS HELL KNOW that hair length has nothing to do with how beautiful or girly someone is, but sometimes I just have those doubts, but then all I have to do is look at these beautiful women and I lust after how absolutely gorgeous they look and it seems like when women cut their long hair, they feel more at ease with shorter locks.
And while you'd think that the short style would better suit and make more sense during the warmer months, in my mind the shorter style is oh-so chic that it's appropriate as a sort of pre-regime, getting ready for Fashion Week and welcoming the colder weather. Feels like once the hair's been styled into something amazing, the mood is complete for all that is to come in the fashion world.
I've already slowly started the process...I guess so I won't go into complete shock and absolutely despise my self for what I've done, haha, but I've added layers and took off a good bulk of weight by thinning out my whole head, and cutting in some face framing pieces.
I love the chunkiness and the wavy look more than the sleek; the sleek look just feels like I'm lacking hair.
The shorter the hair and the more layers you have, I feel that it's a whole lot easier to style your hair.
For every day I just shampoo (I don't care which shampoo, since the conditioner is that one that will be the deciding factor on how your hair will turn out) condition, air dry while I'm sleeping (tossing and turning really helps to build up waves ;) and use a styling paste in the morning (most of the time I don't even have to brush my shorter hair).
I've just recently started using Joico and it's pretty damn good and smells amazing. I r-e-a-l-l-y hate it when using "volumizing" conditioners turn my hair into a big puffball of feathers which causes me to use more product to "dirty up" my hair. I can't stand it, which makes me dread even washing my hair, but I have to do it more frequently since I've used more product in the beginning. Vicious cycle.
Joico Body Luxe Thickening Conditioner
And I have been using this Redken Styling Paste for years and I absolutely love it. It says on the website that it's a best seller and I definitely see why. It's really thick and gooey and sticky and helps me achieve exactly the look that I want. They also have two sizes so you can try it out without spending way too much on something that you're not even happy with.
That's about all for now. Currently I'm enjoying all of these September issues, waiting for the autumn chill (so close I can taste it!), going through art stores picking up materials during the back to school sales, and in the process of redecorating.
LOVE the YSL cage booties
